From One to Another

Through a freak accident (and with me being just so incredibly graceful), my foot got stuck in the bicycle drivetrain. It hurt my leg, but we didn’t have to go to the hospital. It wasn’t that bad. Why I remember it so well, is that it was the first time when my dad took care of such an injury. Usually the bigger things (or yeah, most injuries) were left for my mum. He cleaned the wound, wrapped my foot in nicely and when he was done, I limped away with a huge grin. I went to look for my mum, who was working on the field at that moment, to tell her this: ‘Look, mummy, daddy wrapped my foot in!’ And I was still grinning.

I don’t know exactly why my tiny brain was so wowed by this or why it has stuck with me throughout these years, but…it’s something that I’ve always remembered so vividly.

It was a sunny day.
